We had a busy day yesterday as we readied for the trip. Did our first fuel-up and pump-out at Vero Beach City Marina and went for a cruise south on the ICW testing everything out. We were led south by a dolphin doing flips in front of us - as novices we're taking that as a good sign... The seasons first named storm is looming off the SC coast but is expected to head out to sea soon - another good sign?
We arrived at Cocoa Village Marina at 1515 after putting in an almost 7 hour day. The staff here is excellent and was a great help for our first docking experience. They had a lot of recommendations of the local restaurant scene, and we very much enjoyed walking around downtown Cocoa. They have a great riverwalk around the edge of town.
We found out about a private launch of Space X at Cape Canaveral, which will occur at 0345 tomorrow. The Captain already has our alarm set, and we look forward to watching the blast off from the flybridge. That will be a great start to Day 2...
Goodbye Vero Beach...
After dinner stroll down the riverwalk
