The Alligator-Pungo Canal was beautiful and desolate to the Alligator River. Once we got there the winds began to pick up giving us a good indication of the Albermarle. We decided to continue on even though the winds were out of the NE at 10-15 knots and the wave height was 3-4 feet. The crossing was 12-14 miles and we took a beating the entire way. Finally we made it into the mouth of the Pasquotank and Bucket List caught up to us as we entered Elizabeth City.
Blue Heron called to warn us of the conditions at the Elizabeth City dock so we ducked into Jennett Bros free dock on the other side of the bridge where conditions were much better. It was a long, tiring day and we were glad to be in port. So much so that we stayed in Elizabeth City for four days until May 2 waiting for the weather to calm down.
Jennett Bros is a food distribution company that offers a free "Dock & Dine" program. They'll let you stay at their dock for free if you agree to eat at one of their client's restaurants each day and give them a critique of the food and service - easy...
We had great fun exploring the city's many quaint shops and restaurants along with the museum and old cemetery.

They will cross their wake in Norfolk completing the loop.
Our race for the bridge opening.
Incredible bridge tender held the bridge for us at the Alligator River...
much to the dismay of waiting traffic
who tired of the wait and got out of their car to stretch their legs...
Finally, we approach Elizabeth City...
and our safe harbor...
at Jennett Brothers.
A few shots around Elizabeth City:
a real operational barber pole!
interesting old cemetery...
Had dinner with Bucket List, Help Me Rhonda, and Blue Heron.
Amos up a tree.
